The Climate Catalyst team

  • Naomi is a strategist, campaigner, and lawyer, working across a portfolio of projects spanning climate policy and politics, democracy, climate justice, and corporate sustainability. She previously worked as a senior climate and energy campaigner and senior political strategist with Greenpeace, and as Head of Sustainability for Norwegian shipping, travel, and expedition firm. Naomi also has experience as a private-sector attorney, as well as with gender and asylum law.

    Naomi is currently based in Norway, and when she isn’t out hiking or skiing, she is working on her Norwegian or dismantling the patriarchy.

  • Sabrina is a policy and public affairs professional, with experience in transport, food systems and agriculture sectors across the UK and international settings, with a particular interest in advocating for sustainable practices. In her current role, Sabrina works to engage businesses and industry associations to scale action and influence national policy. When not working, you'll probably find her exploring the newest art exhibits in London, where she lives.

  • Arief has started and built several non profit organizations in Indonesia. Previously, he was the Director of The Paloma Sjahrir Foundation, a non-profit focusing on building better ecosystems for eco-startups and women-led small enterprises. Before that he started and was Country Director of Change.org Indonesia. He also co-founded and curated for TEDxJakarta. He currently serves as a board member in an environmental and a health non-profit organization. He also thinks that Indonesian food is the best food.

  • Sakshi works at the intersection of policy research, advocacy, and building partnerships to drive change. Most recently, she led the policy research and advocacy team at Air Pollution Action Group to advocate for governments in India on combating air pollution and climate change. She built a coalition to address crop burning, one of the largest causes of pollution, and drive a shift towards sustainable agriculture practices. Prior to this, she advocated for policy reform with national legislators and governments across Asia.

    With a keen understanding of what is required to create change, Sakshi is committed to developing campaigns and building partnerships to achieve climate justice.

  • With a keen passion for building people-centric and people-driven organizations, Ila has previously led on creating strong culture initiatives, diverse talent pools, accessible learning & development platforms, sustainable organisational growth and grounded business operations systems. In her role as Head of People + Operations at Climate Catalyst, Ila works to build a people-first organization with practices that drive both collective and individual growth, and leads on designing and implementing operational systems, processes and infrastructure. When not working, she is busy being tutored by her human & furry babies alike.

  • Alex has been a professional fundraiser for causes that include disability equality, protection from domestic abuse, human rights, and end of life care.

    She brings experience of working with major donors, trusts and foundations, as well as working with non executive boards. Combined with a background in research, Alex is focused on securing the right funding sources for Climate Catalyst.

  • Aleks has played an integral role in launching Climate Catalyst from within Environmental Defense Fund as the new organisation’s first recruit. Aleks is passionate about finding climate solutions that deliver justice to the communities most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

    Aleks is an alumna of the High Meadows Fellowship program and holds a BA in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University. She is from Belgrade, Serbia, and grew up in the US.

  • Stephen has played leadership roles as a campaigner and advocate at international and national levels on climate change, international development, and other issues. He was Chief Executive of Refugee Action in the UK from 2015-21, and previously Deputy Campaign Director of Oxfam International and a political adviser on climate change. He has worked in civil society, government and business.

    Throughout his career, he has focused on bringing brilliant people and organisations together in order to achieve ambitious shared goals.

  • Saskia has over twelve years of experience working with government institutes, funders, social enterprises and NGOs in countries such as Ecuador, Nepal and Zimbabwe, as well as in the UK and the Netherlands. She has worked on human health, cutting-edge research grant schemes, international development and organisational capacity building, all with the aim of enabling action by building evidence and competence on environment and health.

    She comes to Climate Catalyst from the Clean Air Fund where managed the health portfolio and set up the programming in the South and Eastern Europe region. Before that she worked at the Wellcome Trust and the Royal Society leading new initiatives on climate and other global challenges.

  • Emily has spent most of her career working with businesses, investors, trade unions, and non-governmental organisations on tackling the climate emergency.

    As Head of Advocacy at The B Team, she led the organisation’s keystone climate, nature, and inequality programme. In this role, she advised large multinationals on leadership initiatives to decarbonise their companies and ensure a just transition.

    She also directed the organisation’s 28 business CEOs and world leader’s advocacy efforts on a range of topics, from supporting equitable global Covid-19 vaccine production to defending democracy. Prior to The B Team, Emily worked for Climate Action Network International (CAN), increasing the influence of NGOs at the UN Climate Talks, and for Crisis Action, an organisation working to protect civilians from armed conflict.

  • Madeleine has worked in climate change and sustainability for over 5 years, with experience across the private sector, civil society, and grassroots organisations to address climate change and mobilise climate solutions.

    Prior to Climate Catalyst, Madeleine worked at the Investor Group on Climate Change in investor engagement, programs, projects, and communications. She also initiated and led IGCC's first circular economy and climate change project and report for investors. Madeleine has also worked at the University of Technology Sydney, Good On You, and is currently a part of Regen Sydney, a network amplifying circular economy in Australia.

  • Kate Holzman has spent her career building high-impact partnerships and supporting leaders tackling a wide range of social and environmental issues.

    She comes to Climate Catalyst from Echoing Green, where she provided a global network of social entrepreneurs with capacity-building programs, board support, and strategic advising. Prior to that, she led the partnerships team at Code Nation, mobilising the tech community to create career opportunities for the youth of color. She calls Brooklyn home.

  • Ferth has spent most of his career spearheading projects, undertaking research and policy advocacy, and building partnerships on a wide range of issues such as disaster risk reduction and management, environmental peacebuilding, climate action, and youth engagement.

    He comes to Climate Catalyst from his stint as Deputy Manager and Programs Lead of Climate Reality Philippines, where he has been involved in developing and implementing strategic programs and campaigns on renewable energy transition, anti-single-use plastics, and sustainable urban mobility. He has also worked with different academic and non-governmental organizations, including the Asia Foundation, Yayasan Peta Bencana (Disaster Map Foundation), East-West Center, Emory University, Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, and the Ateneo School of Government. He holds a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from Waseda University.

    He is currently based in the Philippines. He enjoys watching animated series, hiking, traveling, and listening to show-tunes.

  • Carina has been building high-impact and high-happiness teams for the last 15 years, across various sectors. She comes to Climate Catalyst after working with the We Mean Business Coalition Secretariat since its earliest days, where she supported the design of their organisational and people operations and built their unique culture as a remote-first, global team. Prior to that, she worked as a technology and campaigns strategist at Purpose, managing teams to support ambitious organisations, foundations, and businesses working for change.

    She is a first-generation American who has called many places home, and currently lives, works and plays in Portugal.

Aditya Pant
  • Aditya is a public policy specialist who is passionate about accelerating the just energy transition. As an extrovert, friendly individual, he thrives building partnerships in collaborative teams. His keen interest in the political economy of decarbonisation has shaped his research interests, which range from energy taxes and subsidies to labour rights.

    Based in Dehradun, Aditya likes gardening, playing badminton, supporting animal welfare, and being in mountains.

  • Harsheen is a digital marketer with several years of experience building and managing large-scale campaigns in both the B2B and B2C sectors. He now aims to leverage these skills and experiences in the digital landscape to help drive awareness and action surrounding climate change and the deliberate activities needed to curb global warming and environmental preservation.

    Brought up and based out of Nairobi, Kenya he loves being out and about meeting people and experiencing scenic locations, while also educating himself and others on personal passions.

  • Paul has worked with several nonprofit organisations to set up and manage their people and operations functions. He has over 15 years experience of working with Landesa, and International Justice Mission, Most recently, Paul was the Deputy Head of Operations at Change.org, overseeing operations for Asia and Australia. In this role, Paul was pivotal in building a one-of-a-kind training program called 'She Creates Change.' In the last couple of years, he has been consulting with nonprofits on crowdfunding, clean air, clean energy space, and building a startup.

    Paul is a native of Kodaikanal, India.

  • Emma is an experienced researcher who is driven by producing transparent and factual information regarding the climate crisis.

    Emma has spent several years working in the fields of climate change research and policy development. She has led strategic initiatives for a public sector research establishment across many areas, including climate and emissions science, future energy vectors, climate adaptation, and resilience, as well as carbon capture, usage, and storage. Emma, who is based in London, also worked as a policy advisor for the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, where she spearheaded the design of a £50m clean energy innovation programme.

  • Since graduating from Buckinghamshire New University, Cathy has worked in administrative and business assistance, development, and management. Cathy brings a broad skillset to Climate Catalyst, having worked in the music, financial software, and many other industries as a freelance Business Development Assistant.

    Cathy lives in Northern Ireland and is passionate about sustainable and mindful living and animal welfare.

  • Over the last decade, Nandan has worked in varied roles across impact investing, consulting, non-profits, academia and politics, with organizations like India Climate Collaborative, Omidyar Network India, Purpose, FTI Consulting, Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung etc. At Climate Catalyst, he is supporting the build and implementation of policy and government engagement strategies for the India Green Steel Network. Outside of work, Nandan regularly plays sport, runs a fitness support group for close friends and family and hosts a video podcast focused on deconstructing interesting career moves of early stage professionals.

  • Gemma has an extensive background in the charitable sector, having worked in fundraising, and development roles for over 13 years in the UK and overseas predominantly in the environmental and conservation sectors. She has particular expertise in relationship management across foundations and individuals, unifying complementary skill sets and areas of interest to reach a common goal.

  • Passionate about the role of communications in driving positive change, Tierney has spent the last decade working on communications and content creation for environmental non-profits. Her experience includes building networks of communicators to build a positive discourse around climate change, shining a spotlight on illegal fishing and slave labour at sea in Asia and Africa and working to drive the uptake of environmental and social policies within the business and investment community. A London native, Tierney spends her free time running the streets and parks of the city, either solo or with her dog in tow.

  • Ali is a lifelong learner with experience designing and delivering learning programs for a range of organisations and audiences in Thailand, Peru, Canada, and beyond. Ali believes that ongoing learning is key to the impact of work within the climate movement, and it is also the foundation for effective collaboration and partnerships. Prior to Climate Catalyst, Ali was the Global Education Programs Manager at EarthRights International, an international non-profit that works with communities to respond to the climate crisis and hold corporations accountable for their social and environmental impacts. She developed learning materials, digital tools, programs, events, and networks to grow the scale and impact of training programs for environmental and human rights defenders around the world.

    Ali thrives when collaborating with diverse stakeholders and communities to understand and drive change.

  • A driven and determined fundraising leader, passionate about environmental philanthropy, Kat has spent 18 years taking collective ambition and entrepreneurial attitude and translating this into funding for scalable programmes, influence and organisational infrastructure to maximise impact for the ocean. Leading the fundraising team, Kat serves the Climate Catalyst team by building strong relationships that deliver finance for high impact campaigns and partnerships. When not bringing her curiosity to the climate challenge, she can be found building something out of lego with her kids or with her nose in a good book.

  • Céline Charveriat has been the Executive Director of IEEP since 2016 and has more than 20 years of experience in the field of sustainable development.

    After studying political sciences and international relations, Céline started her career as a researcher at the Peterson Institute and the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington D.C., focusing on poverty, social protection, and natural disasters. Céline then worked for 10 years at Oxfam International, first as a researcher on poverty and international commodity markets, then as an advocate on trade and climate change issues.

    Within IEEP, Céline concentrates her research work on the domestic implementation of SDGs in Europe. She has also created the Think2030 platform and Think Sustainable Europe, a network of sustainability think tanks with members from all over Europe.

    Most recently, in 2020, she was listed in the top 100 CSR influence leaders by Assent Compliance.

  • Shloka Nath is the Chief Executive Director of the India Climate Collaborative which is a first-of-its kind, India-focused collaborative that seeks to direct funding and visibility towards climate action in India. She also currently leads the Policy and Advocacy and Sustainability and Special Projects portfolio at the Tata Trusts, one of India’s leading philanthropic foundations. In addition to her roles at the ICC and Tata Trusts, Shloka Nath is the Vice President of the Bombay Natural History Society, one of the largest non-governmental organisations in India engaged in conservation and biodiversity research, and she is a member of the Advisory Board to IUCN’s Nature-based Recovery initiative. Prior to this, Shloka co-founded and was the Managing Partner of Sankhya Women Impact Funds, a gender lens fund with a focus on sustainability. She has spent over a decade in journalism with the BBC in London, as a news anchor with New Delhi Television (NDTV) and Principal Correspondent with Forbes in Mumbai.  Shloka has a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and a BSc in Government from The London School of Economics and Political Science.

  • Joojin Kim is Managing Director and Founder of Solutions for Our Climate (SFOC), a Seoul-based climate advocacy group focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the power, steel, and land-use sector.

    Joojin has over fifteen years of experience with the international climate change regime, including experience serving as a member of the delegation of the Republic of Korea to the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference, held in Copenhagen. More recently, he served as a member of the Working Group for Korea’s Third Energy Framework Plan and as a member of the Advisory Panel of the National Council on Climate and Air Quality of Korea led by Ban Ki-Moon. He also briefly worked for the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF). Before founding SFOC, he was an attorney at Kim & Chang, Korea’s largest law firm.

  • Dr Mukund Rajan is the Chairperson of ECube Investment Advisors, a first of its kind platform created in 2019 to catalyse Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) changes in Corporate India. Prior to this, he held a number of senior executive positions through his 23-year career with the Tata Group, where he served as the first Brand Custodian of the Tata Group, Chief Ethics Officer of the Group, Chairman of the Tata Global Sustainability Council, and Member of the Group Executive Council at Tata Sons. He served on the boards of various Tata companies including Tata Teleservices, Tata Communications, Tata SIA Airlines and Tata AIG.

    Dr Rajan serves as the Chairperson of the Environment and Climate Change Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and is a member of the ESG Advisory Committee constituted by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He serves as a member of the Council of Management of the Forum of Free Enterprise and is a member of the KPMG India ESG Council. He also serves as Advisor, Ethics and ESG, to Bank of Baroda.

    In 2007, the World Economic Forum honoured Dr Rajan as a Young Global Leader. He was also part of the inaugural class of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)-Aspen Institute India Leadership Initiative.

    Dr Rajan graduated from the BTech program at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in 1989. He completed a Masters and Doctorate in International Relations on a Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford University. His doctoral dissertation, "Global Environmental Politics", was published by Oxford University Press in 1996; his second book, “The Brand Custodian – My Years with the Tatas”, was published by HarperCollins in 2019; his third book, on Corporate Responsibility and ESG, titled “OUTLAST – How ESG Can Benefit Your Business”, co-authored with Dr Colonel Rajeev Kumar, was published by HarperCollins and won the Green Literature Festival Honour Book Award in 2022 for Business Literature; and his fourth book, “Tata’s Leadership Experiment – The Story of the Tata Administrative Service”, co-authored with Bharat Wakhlu and Sonu Bhasin, was published by HarperCollins in 2022.

  • Amanda Leland, Executive Director of Environmental Defense Fund, is responsible for driving EDF’s global mission of ensuring vital earth for everyone by driving game-changing climate solutions with a focus on people and nature, energy transition, and healthy communities.

    Amanda oversees the delivery of significant results through multi-disciplinary global initiatives, while also deepening a culture of collaboration and an equitable, people-centered approach.

    Ms. Leland previously led EDF’s Oceans program, a global team in 14 countries focused on reversing overfishing while improving human wellbeing. A marquis achievement is the dramatic economic and ecological recovery of U.S. fisheries. She holds a master’s degree in marine biology from the University of Maine.

  • Thomas leads climate and environment within Unilever’s Global Sustainability Team. Thomas led the development of Unilever’s new climate and nature strategy, launched in June 2020, which included a recommitment to 1.5-degree Science-Based Targets, a new Net Zero by 2039 commitment, and the launch of a €1bn Climate & Nature fund, and led the development of the Climate Transition Action Plan which was approved with a 99.59% vote in favour at Unilever’s 2021 AGM.

    Thomas joined Unilever in 1999, abandoning the finance and IT graduate scheme after 3 years in 2002 to take a role in UK Social & Environmental Affairs. After 6 years in Unilever’s UK business, Thomas joined the think tank Green Alliance as Deputy Director. Thomas rejoined Unilever in 2010 and was part of the original team that launched the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan, subsequently founding the Unilever Global Advocacy team to drive transformational change on systemic issues such as recycling, public health, and sustainable agriculture.
